NJB John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world. – Jesus
We were sitting in the dinning table having a snack some time last week when my daughter Abby, who is 9, turned and asked me a pretty insightful question, “how will others know that we are trusting in God, unless bad things happen?” Needless to say, I was pretty amazed at how well she had grasped the idea of faith and trust in God. Faith can be present in good and bad times, but it is put in display when we face some kind of adversity.
Many have wondered and asked the question of why God would allow bad things to happen to “good” people. I think this is one of the answers. It is an opportunity to display, “wear it,” if I may, our faith and complete trust in God for others to see. Jesus never promised a carefree life. In fact, he warned us of the opposite, “in this life you will have trouble.” None of us like to face adversity, neither do my daughter and I, but it is good to know that Jesus faced the worst thing we will ever have to face, death, and conquered it on our behalf. What adversity are you facing today? Trust God with all your heart and put your faith on display!
